In the Hotseat this month: Helen Jones, fresh friendly face and director of Marketing at Heavenly
July 2023
1.Where and when were you happiest
I believe I’m contractually obliged to say that the moment I received a job offer from Heavenly was my happiest moment. Coming a close second would be a recent holiday with my family, as the kids are now old enough that I could actually relax and read a book for the first time in years.
2. What do you value most in other people?
Honesty (and sarcasm).
3. What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Start with kindness/compassion, you never know what’s going on in someone else’s world.
4. What did you dream of being when you were young?
My first ever ambition was to be like ‘Clara the long-distance lorry driver’ from Pigeon Street (TV show). One of the OG trailblazers for equality way back in the 1980s.
5. What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud?
Anyone who knows me would suggest I don’t know how to laugh any other way than out loud – and very loudly at that. What consistently makes me laugh out loud (most often on a quiet commuter train) is the Wolf & Owl podcast. Tom Davies is one of the funniest people on earth.
6. What keeps you awake at night?
Literally anything. I’m the world’s lightest sleeper. *yawn
7. What is your favourite word?
Serendipity.
8. Which talent are you most envious of?
Any that I don’t have, which is a LOT.
9. Which famous painting would you choose to have in your home?
If I was allowed to swap painting for sculpture it would be anything by Barbara Hepworth. But if it has to be a painting then probably Nighthawks by Edward Hopper.
10. What is your proudest moment?
Again, I think I’m contractually obliged to say the moment I was offered the job at Heavenly. Although coming in a close second would be watching my kids achieve new skills/talents/reasons to be happy which makes me extraordinarily proud.
